Water soluble dietary fiber--XOS
Water soluble dietary fiber is a kind of fiber that can be dissolved in water and has viscosity. It can absorb a lot of water in the intestinal tract and keep the feces soft. Water soluble fiber can effectively activate the beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract, promote the proliferation of beneficial bacteria, and create healthy ecology of the intestinal tract. Soluble dietary fiber can bring a more lasting sense of satiety, reduce the intake of heat energy, digestion and absorption of nutrients in the intestinal tract, and ultimately make the body fat consumption and play a role in weight loss.
At present, the common water-soluble dietary fiber in the market mainly includes fructooligosaccharide, Isomaltooligosaccharide, lacto oligosaccharide, xylo oligosaccharide, soybean oligosaccharide, agar powder and carboxymethyl cellulose. It is a hot spot in the market to develop more healthy and more comfortable soluble dietary fiber.
Bio energy research reported on September 3 that scientists from Campinas University obtained arabinoxylan (XOS), a new soluble dietary fiber resource from sugarcane straw and coffee shell. This study opens up a new prospect from enzymatic hydrolysis of lignocellulose biomass to the production of functional food ingredients such as prebiotic Xylooligosaccharides. The aim of this study was to improve the extraction process of arabinoxylans from sugarcane straw and coffee shell to produce short chain arabinoxylans by enzymatic hydrolysis using an ideal enzyme mixture formulation.
